Olof Hedberg

Resides: Breckenridge, CO
Years with the team: 2

Olof's background is as a competitive cross country skier and he raced on an international level until 2004, but he has been Adventure Racing for almost two decades. He did his first expedition race in 1999 "Le Grand Tour" in Sweden and Norway.

For a long time AR was secondary to skiing which is a huge sport in his native Sweden. Racing for Stromsbergs IF he placed top 20 in Scandinavian Cup as well as overall top 10 in the Swedish Cup. He still had time to place second in the Åre Extreme challenge relay with Lundhags (now Haglofs) and compete in Le Grand Tour again.

Nordic skiing brought him to the US as a  Nordic coach at University of New Mexico winning the NCAA silver medal in 2006. A job at a hedge fund in New York City made him take a hiatus from sports but also made him connect with New York Adventure Racing after winning a small local race with his wife. Racing with his wife brought back the love for competitive athletics and a lifestyle change with a move to Breckenridge Colorado made it possible. He has raced with NYARA for the past several years as well as with a few other teams in the U.S..

Being from Sweden, Olof also has some orienteering background, and won the Rocky Mountain Night Orienteering two years ago.
